Greg Heller-LaBelle
Greg Heller-LaBelle is the CEO and co-founder of The Colony Meadery in Allentown, PA. Prior to that, he drove the success and growth of startup ventures in industries ranging from community banking to math educational technology. A passionate believer in community and economic development, Greg started his career at the economic development nonprofit Riverlife in Pittsburgh, where he coordinated communications around major land development projects, including stadiums and Point State Park revitalization. He also has worked and volunteered on several political campaigns, ranging from city council to president. In his off time, Greg was a writer who had successful blogs on politics, beer and art (and, sometimes, how they interact). He’s also the Entrepreneur in Residence at Muhlenberg College. An alumnus of Pitt and Lehigh, he’s lived in Bethlehem three times, Pittsburgh twice, and Mexico once..
Greg Heller-LaBelle is the President of the American Mead Makers Association. His previous service to the organization includes serving as Vice President and leading the Legislative Committee, where he advises members on regulations, taxation and other relevant topics, and spearheads the AMMA lobbying efforts. Some of the legislative achievements under his leadership include: the reduction of the “bubble tax,” reforms that allowed meaderies to use common formulas, identify spirit barrels on a label, and dramatically increase label freedoms for in-state sales. As Vice President, he spearheaded the AMMA finding and hiring a lobbying firm to represent the industry’s interests in Washington, and held MeadConEast in 2020, where almost 100 mead makers gathered for a one-day conference on the East Coast.
