John Fisher
Fisher & Company LLC is an investment banking advisor to branded consumer companies. From 1987 to 1997, John Fisher was Managing Director of Hambrecht & Quist Group (H&Q), a venture capital and investment banking company, responsible for all services to consumer companies. From 1984 to 1987 he was chief executive of Bechtle Fisher & Company, Inc., a private investment bank, acquired by H&Q. From 1976 to 1984 he was VP corporate finance of Crocker Bank (Wells Fargo). From 1973 to 1976 he was a member of the White House staff (Office of Management & Budget). Fisher has advised many of the great brands in wine, beer and spirits on strategic investment banking transactions. Recent clients in artisan spirits have included FEW Spirits, Troy & Sons’ Ashville Distilling, Yellow Rose and Anchor Distilling. Craft brewing clients have included Anchor Brewing Co. and Samuel Adams –the Boston Beer Co. Fisher has concluded 4 transactions for Robert Parker “World’s Greatest Wine Estates” and many other great brands in wine including Kistler Vineyards, Ridge Vineyards, and Robert Mondavi. Fisher has also advised some of the largest brands in these categories including Skyy Spirits, Remy Cointreau, Stroh Brewery, and Constellation Brands. Finally Fisher has advised important branded consumer companies such as Starbucks, Peet’s Coffee, Rollerblade and Smith Sports. Fisher has served a number of public and private boards of directors, including Raritan Computer, Henry Wine Group, Mission Hockey, Overstock.com (OSTK), Big Rock Brewery (TSE:BR), Starbucks China (Beijing), Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards, and Venture Strategy Fund L.P. Civic and charitable activities have included service on the Atherton, California Town Council (1978-86) serving as Mayor (1984-86) and member of the Board of Regents of St. Mary’s Cathedral of San Francisco (1993-2000) serving as Chairman (1998-2000).
